Red Barn Flea Market & Plaza

Saweeeeet!, thought Frank Malerba, as he made his way around the Red Barn Flea Market, located just a mile or so from his new home in Bradenton. Interested in a slower, simpler pace than the one he had in Brooklyn, Frank was enjoying his retirement from a 17-year career with the Department of Transportation in New York City. During 9-11-01, this proud New Yorker served as an active member of the search and rescue team at Ground Zero. Now, he and his family were ready to enjoy a new lifestyle that included refreshing tropical breezes, powdery soft white sand beaches and some good ole' Florida charm. He envisioned himself relaxing on a lounge chair with nothing much to do, yet he found himself captivated by the unexpected variety and spaciousness of the Red Barn Flea Market and decided to go into business for himself, here, three days a week.

At the southern end of our Marketplace, booths 198 and 200 are officially open for business and operating on military time! Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays from 0800 hours to 1600 hours, you will find what you are looking for in new and used military surplus, camouflage and military gear. No rank insignia is necessary to wear these military clothes and while some are designed to intimidate, others are made to impress. Camouflage tank tops and Daisy Duke shorts for women, indicating Anchors Away!, seem to fly off the shelves as well as pink camouflage bathing suits, a must have this summer! The green camouflage declares, "Shhh! I'm on a Crib Recon" with the Marine globe and anchor emblem proudly displayed on the front! These are totally modern items.

The Military Corner has a selection of timeless pieces like no other place. Their catalog sales have been remarkable. Stop by for a look at the latest military field jackets and fatigues, camping and paint ball gear, top quality hunting apparel, sleeping and duffel bags, military dog tags, knives and swords as well as pins and patches that proudly honor the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army National Guard, Coast Guard and last but not least, POW/MIA. Folks, the red, white and blue are proudly on display here! They accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover credit cards for payment. Cash, of course, is always welcomed.
